And the food. Ultimately, that’s why you’re here. The food is healthy, hearty. delicious. And fast. This is what we like to eat; this is our promise to you.
After four years at her current location in the Plaza Colonnade and becoming a favorite amongst Kansas City epicureans, The Mixx opened its second location in the Kansas City Power & Light District in the fall 2009. Plans for the 3rd location are in the works now and it is slated to open in March of 2015. This will be our first The Mixx in Kansas and will be in Hawthorne Plaza in Johnson County
Scaglia founded The Mixx in 2005 after a lifetime of love for cooking and restaurants. Having spent 10 years in San Francisco, she was highly influenced by shopping at the farmer's markets and the coastal fresh food culture. Jo Marie moved back to Kansas City and quickly recognized the area’s void for a much needed option of healthy, delicious and fast-casual cuisine. In 2005, her solution to the problem was to open The Mixx. Every detail was meticulously planner: the color scheme is bright, warm and cheerful. The space is open and inviting.
Jo Marie answered that question herself in 2005 when she opened up the Mixx. Every detail was meticulously planned: the color scheme is bright, warm, and cheerful. The space is open and inviting.
The Mixx partners with other local companies to bring you the best dining Kansas City can offer. Farm to Market bread, The Roasterie coffee, Boulevard beer, Scratch Bakery’s baked goods and gluten free options as well as Kansas City Cupcake Company’s cupcakes.”
“There’s no simpler pleasure than a good lunch with good friends. I truly believe that it nourishes the soul. I crafted the Mixx first and foremost as a space where I would want to have lunch with friends.”
